I first stumbled upon The Dandy Horse late last year when I was looking for a suitable venue to host my photographic exhibition, the subject matter? Cyclists. The suggestion was made by a friend and to be honest, I didn't know what I would find. As things turned out I found a little slice of cycling and coffee nirvana, right in the heart of the city of Norwich.

The concept of The Dandy Horse is a bike workshop café, fusing the two together in one place. Now, it is an undisputed fact that some things just go together, Police Officers and donuts, strawberries and cream and yes, cycling and coffee. Cycling uses glycogen as fuel, and coffee helps in the refuelling process after food. That is scientific fact. The other consideration is that both are extremely cool and come in a multitude of variations from all over the world.

I have travelled in Italy and France and I will happily put my neck on the line here and say that the coffee I have tasted at The Dandy Horse is some of the best I have tasted anywhere, oh, and as a bonus there are cakes and bagels too, more fuel for hungry cyclists and discerning non-cyclists alike.

If you are not thirsty or hungry but need to feed your urges toward cycling then 'Spokes' the man behind the workshop offers everything from a bicycle bell to a bespoke built vintage bicycle. I have marvelled at the array of vintage frames and bikes that are lovingly restored and resurrected in the workshop. Vintage is the key element here, not only are these bikes über cool, they also preserve cyclings long illustrious heritage.
